secRMM FAQ

Here are some of the questions we have received about secRMM.  If you have a question that is not listed here, please contact us and we will answer your question.

Q: Does secRMM monitor CDROM/DVDs?

A: You can enable this feature by setting the MonitorCDROMAndDVD secRMM property (btw, this property is on by default).

Q: What kind of performance penalty can I expect when secRMM is running?  Will the write operations be significantly slower to the point of the user complaining?

A: Your end-users will not even know secRMM is running.  The product was designed using multi-threading techniques and asychronous I/Os.  In other words, the product was designed to be as light-weight as possible.

Q: What happens after the 30 day trial is over?

A: secRMM will stop recording events in the event logs except for an error event saying there is no licence file.  It will also prevent write operations to removable media as a security precaution. Once you get a secRMM license file from Squadra Technologies and put it in the secRMM installation directory, secRMM will start working again (and the annoying trial event message will go away too).

Q: What is the best way to distribute the software?

A: We recommend you use a software distribution tool such as Microsoft Configuration Manager or AD Group Policy.

Q: Does secRMM monitor reads from Removable Media devices?

A: No.  If you feel strongly about this feature, please contact Squadra Technologies to discuss.

Q: Does secRMM monitor hard drives?

A: No.  If you feel strongly about this feature, please contact Squadra Technologies to discuss.
